Archery
Archery can be said to be the ancestor of ancient Chinese sports. Archaeologists have found a
stone arrow at Shiyu Cultural Site in Shanxi Province, which indicates that people began to use bows and arrows at that time. This arrow was made of stone and tied to a wooden pole as a tool for archery at that time. By the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, with the emergence of bronze tools, stone arrows began to develop towards bronze arrows.
In the Han Dynasty, with the development of iron instruments, bronze arrows gradually developed to iron arrows. With the diversification of arrows, many changes have taken place in the form of archery. For example, archery was included in education in the Zhou Dynasty. At that time, six arts were rituals, music, shooting, imperial court, books and numbers, among which archery was an important content.Confucius, Xuncius and Mo-tse were all archery enthusiasts at that time. They also encouraged them to archery.

From the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties to the Sui and Tang Dynasties, archery activities have been greatly developed. According to the relevant documents, there were more than 600 "bow and arrow societies" of non-governmental organizations in Hebei at that time, with more than 30,000 participants, which could be said to be the earliest professional athlete organization in the history of China.
